Orlando is a major city in Florida, USA. This city is able to provide good and quality education to its inhabitants. Orlando is the home of the University of Central Florida, the second largest university in the whole of Florida. This university was founded in 1963 and named as the Florida Technological University with the goal to provide highly trained and proficient personnel for the Kennedy Space Center. In 1978 this university expanded its academic scope in order to encompass all academic fields and was also renamed as the University of Central Florida. As of the year 2007 it had over 49,000 students enrolled. This Orlando University is the only state university in Orlando. It produces some of the most competitive graduates in the entire state of Florida. Graduates from this university are products of one of the twelve colleges organized into the university. This university offers baccalaureates, masteries, doctorates, certificates, and specialist degrees.

Among Orlando Colleges and universities there are some that are classified as community colleges. Valencia Community College is one such among Orlando Colleges and universities. It was founded in 1967 as Valencia Junior College and was later changed to the present name Valencia Community College in 1971. This Orlando College has a lot of campuses with some additional campuses in Kissimmee and Winter Park. There are over 50,000 students who enroll in this college alone each year. The Orlando Colleges has had some good reputation and Valencia Community College is no exception. It is ranked second in the United State alone for the number of Associate’s degrees awarded. This college’s strength resides in its media related courses. No other Orlando College can compare to the college’s film programs. Even director Steven Spielberg called Valencia’s film program one of the best available. This College has produced some of the United State’s best performance artists like; Chris Kirkpatrick of NSYNC and Backstreet Boys’ Howie Dorough.

There are also a lot of Private Orlando universities and colleges. Some of the notable colleges include the Asbury Theological Seminary, Everglades University, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. The private Orlando universities and colleges offer diverse educational curriculum. These curriculum of Orlando universities and colleges are also some of the best in the United States.
